What We Do

Home Groups

A number of Home Groups run in our Church each week.

Quilt & Craft Expo

2023 dates: 8th & 9th September
This runs in conjunction with the annual Laidley Spring Festival run on second weekend of September. This year the festival is celebrating its’s 60th Anniversary. Hundreds of visitors are expected to attend daily. The Laidley Quilt & Craft Expo displays amazing quilts, crocheted items, decorative sewing and textile art but there’s more than this to see at our Expo.

Wander through the church hall and along the veranda amongst amazing displays and gifted demonstrators with handmade jewellery, woodwork, cards, flowers, dolls, lace making, children’s wear and homemade cakes, lollies and biscuits.

Explore our grounds discovering lovingly restored vintage cars, trucks, tractors and machinery.

Hungry after wandering and discovering? The Courtyard Cafe serves morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea with home-made sandwiches, salads, cakes, slices and fresh strawberries with ice cream. Buses and coach tour groups enjoy our Expo and the many other attractions of the Laidley Spring Festival.

Laidley Second Chance Op Shop

The Op Shop is operated by the Laidley Uniting Church and is manned by a group of friendly volunteers. Our wonderful Manager is Tracey Broad who joined us at the beginning of 2018. There are also other Day Managers during each day of the week – Monday morning – Saturday midday. The Shop stock is continually updated, and many people appreciate the décor, as well as the good range, prices and service.

Tracey has been working hard with the volunteers and trying out new things in the shop. Come and visit and see our new look.

Stock is sourced from donations from the community, usually through 2 bins in the local IGA carpark and one at the rear of the shop, plus drop-offs during operations. Items are sorted and made ready by the volunteers each day. They shop is blessed to have a wonderful bunch of volunteers. Other times we pick up from homes who want to donate their furniture or unwanted items to the Shop. We can also deliver items for those big items for a small charge.

The continued donations of items is very appreciated and help the shop to fulfil its mission, in raising funds to help the needy as well as supporting certain Church activities in the community.

Profits from sales support the church but also help a number of groups, including Laidley Crisis Care & Accommodation and School Chaplaincy in the Laidley School Cluster area.

Men’s Catch ups

Men gather for a social get together at 10.00am at Café Sorrella at Forest Hill on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month. This is a time where they can chat and catch up and solve the world’s problems.

Craft Group

This Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month, and on the 5th Tuesday in a month, at 9.00am in the Laidley Church Hall. All are welcome who may be interested in learning a craft or just meeting with other like minded craft people. $3 covers morning tea and a contribution to the morning

Sunday School – YAKS

Every Sunday morning, except School holidays, the Laidley Church has activities for primary and pre-school children during the Church Services. The children attend church with the parent/s to begin with, and after a short time they have their own program in the Hall. Our program is called YAKS (Youth and Kids Sunday).

Home Groups

There are a number of Home Groups or Bible Study groups connected to the church. These usually meet weekly in various homes of church members. Contact the Church Office for more details.
